Who’s Behind oDesk Jobs?
Hi. My name is Joni Waseity-Beadle and I launched my freelance writing career on oDesk back in July, 2010. The exact date was July 23, and I nailed my first job by the end of that month.
I’d have to say part of it may have been beginner’s luck, but probably the main reason was I believed in myself and my skills. Partner the two together and it’s a win-win situation. I’ve learned quite a bit from trial and error, but hey…that’s what it takes to grow and expand not only your skills, but also your business mindset.
Since being hired for that first job, I have gone on to write for many professionals spanning over the globe, in all different industries. And in addition to that, my confidence continued to build letting me take my skills offline… which was really taking me out of my comfort zone.
So I guess what I’m telling you is this; many, many doors can open for you by working through oDesk if you’ll just keep your eyes opened for other opportunities…
However, “getting your feet wet” is the toughest part of working on any outsourcing marketplace. But getting hired for the first job, (tucking it under your belt) sparks confidence and each job after the first gets a little bit easier every time.
